I didnot know the meaning at all as well.
Japanglish makes me confused speaking English.
Sometimes I use English as Japanglish to custmors.
of coruse, they do not understand the meaning.

Many friends of mine from other countries have taken pictures of this store because of the misspelling of “Thanks”. Ehehe..it’s a little embarassing (*. .)/

Other Japanglish words are:
faito!=gambatte >> fight!=kenka
donmai!=kinishinaide >> don’t mind >> I don’t mind=kininaranai
risutora=kubinisuru >> in this situation: restoration=kaishawo tatenaosu
and more! But can’t think of anymore at the moment.

Ahahaha! Yep, Japanglish! Actually, I had the opposite problem..I thought I could speak Japanese when I first came to live in Japan, but to my surprise, I was speaking Englinese (English+Japanese) and couldn’t get my message through to the Japanese person I was speaking to. That was about 10years ago!

I did not know ” Donmai ” is Japanglish.
I heard it a lot when people play baseball.

ドンマイとは英語”Don’t mind”からきた言葉で、英語同様「気にするな」「心配するな」という意味で使われる。ドンマイは主に野球などスポーツで失敗した仲間を励ます言葉として使われたが、後に職場や学校など様々な場面で人を励ます言葉として使われるようになる。
註1)ドンマイの元となる”Don’t mind”。意図的にドンマイと読んだ和製英語なのか、英語発音の”t”・”d”が聞き取れないためドンマイとなったカタカナ英語なのか不明なため両表記しています。
アメリカの野球選手は使っているのかな?

I need to come over to japan to experience Japanglish. Till now i know of Hinglish and Pinglish only i-e hindi and punjabi mixed with english
