Hello Heart to Heart Readers!

Summer’s almost ending but I’m still having fun with fireworks!!  Hi, my name’s Erin and I’ve just joined the Heart to Heart teaching team.
I’m very excited about being a part of this AMAZING English Club and can’t wait to meet you in person.

Now, for a quick quiz!

What do you call a person (like myself) who has recently become involved in an activity?

hint #1: the word starts with “N

hint #2:  you can either find the word by searching through the dictionary or by simply looking at the title of this blog!

Yes! It’s the word “newcomer“!! There are many other words with similar nuances like: novice, newbie, and new kid on the block.

In Japan, people seem to be familiar with the word ニューフェイス(new face), instead of ニューカマー (newcomer)…

Is “new face” an english word or 和製英語(waseieigo/japanese english)

What do you think???

We’re looking forward to hearing your opinions.  See you soon!

Konnichiwa Narayan!
Yes, I’ve joined Heart to Heart as an English teacher and am very excited! I started off 13 years ago at ECC, a huge school with a system much like McDonald’s. Students coming in, going out, constantly! It was a great place to start off, with the teaching experience and meeting people from all walks of life. I had fun during my years there and I’m very thankful.

At Heart to Heart, it’s a whole different gig full of surprises, a deeper connection to the heart, a deeper connection with the people you meet, and a deeper connection to yourself. Recently I learned so many things after joining this club, and I hope to grow as a human being; grow together with the people who come through those red doors. Every moment is a learning moment and I need to remember to grasp that chance when it comes. And also remember that it’s a sharing moment, sharing what I’ve learned.

Hope to see you in Japan soon, Narayan!!

Sincerely, Erin
p.s. love reading your comments! (The ‘Inception’ review was wonderful!!)
