Hello!! I try to do as much as I can do, like ride bikes, walk, take public transportation as much as I can. Turn the lights on only in the room I’m in. I don’t use the AC at home and during summer evenings I turn all the lights off and spend time in the candle light…it’s cool and lovely!
There is no thing as coincidence…right now I’m doing an environmental awareness lesson at my schools and discuss what we can do to help conserve and protect our Mother Earth. And! Funny thing is, I was flipping through channels this morning and watched a TV show called TBS “Shittoko!” (strange title, I must say…)But what was amazing was..A little girl named Mina(6-7yrs old)was introduced on the show. She wants to save the world so she decides to make a painting using what we call “trash”. She drew animals and insects with pencil on a big cardboard box and then she stuck different color plastic, paper, and cloth to color the drawings instead of using paint. What she wants to do is tell people that we need to do something to save Earth and Eco-art is her tool to communicate. I wish I had a picture of her work titled “Beautiful Earth We Love” to show along with my comments, but couldn’t find it anywhere on the net. She’s just lovely and so is her work! (^v^*)

What we do is everything we can as well and my whole family is the same (thanks to Dad and Mum). My good friend thinks I was born half hippy. At the moment we power our whole house from solar panels on the roof. We grow as many of our own vegies as we can, our chooks give us eggs and fertilizer, the kids recycle and use old cards, paper, magazines and even stamps for paintings and glueings and then the rest into the recycling bin. I would have to say that our biggest consumption is petrol. Living out of town with no access to public transport, petrol is a big factor for us, unfortunately until they come up with a healthier fuel source, I will not be able to change this (and going back to horse and cart is not the answer… can you imagine how long it would take to get the shopping done or pick up the kids from school…I would have to leave the day before just to get there on time ha ha!.
On another note, my parents, who now live in a retirement village still grow as much of their own food as they can. Mum has a line of containers in which she grows her lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, herbs etc. She gets on her bike to ride to the recycling bins and always takes a rubbish bag when she walks to pick up any rubbish she finds around. Truely inspirational, thanks to both of them.

Wow wee
Karen and Reeney! Thanks for your tips. Karen my dear you are more than half hippy to me(cloudy day can`t use the computer!!!) Not such a bad thing I may add as I am still pretty bad with technology…Still don`t know which cord goes where?… Truly nice to hear that mum and dad are still being great examples in loving our earth…And yes, Erina special to know that the children are taking action in renewing the world that a lot of their parents have helped to destroy…

Hello, Hello
Environment, economics and equity(everyone in the world is equal) in balance. How good what that be.
I love our kids and their kids and their kids and their kids and their kids and their kids. Hold on, do I live a life that reflects this. I would have to say a big NO. Sometimes we feel finance needs to take precedence, sometimes we focus on envirnoment and on occasion we have an urge to contribute to a cause or charity. I may be wrong but do most of us battle for a balance.
What do we do? Support the local markets, eat leftovers, wormfarm, watertanks, gas hot water system and recycling.
